KEEPING HIS FINGERS CROSSED--Ohio Public Defender Greg Meyers, chief of the Death Penality Division, speaks with reporters following the decision by U.S. District Court Judge Algenon Marbley to stay the execution of Wilfred Berry, in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, Feb. 27, 1998. Although pleased with the court's decision, Meyers said that he would spend the weekend preparing his defense for a State appeal to the U.S. 6th Circuit Court in Cincinnati. Berry,who is called "the volunteer," is scheduled to die by lethal injection on March 3, at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, in Lucasville.
