MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCATES BLAST TAFT--Thirty-one year-old Shawna Klein attends a rally in her wheelchair, with her mother Shawnee, behind her, along with workers, friends, family and those suffering from mental retardation and developmental disabilities (MR/DD), at the Ohio Statehouse, in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, March 14, 2003. The rally, sponsored by the Ohio Civil Service Employees Assoiciation (OCSEA) was in protest to the Taft adminstration's plan to close the Applecreek Developmental Center, in Wooster and the Springview Developmental Center, in Springfield. Shawna, who has been brain-damaged since birth has resided at the Springview center for 21 years. The closing will adversly affect over 260 individuals suffering from MR/DD.
