MOCK CRASH, REAL MESSAGE--Columbus Firefighters use the "jaws of life" device to free a trapped victim, in a mock crash staged to promote sober and safe driving for the Labor Day weekend, in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999. The event was sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Franklin County DUI Task Force and Nationwide Insurance. In the background are Nationwide employees representing the 374 Ohioans killed by drunk drivers in 1998. (JACK KUSTRON/photoj.com)
