AKRON'S ON HER MIND--Lt. Gov. Maureen O'Connor, seen in this file photo, is considering resigning her post to run for Summit County executive, according to the Columbus Dispatch in its August 26, 1999 edition. O'Connor, who also serves as director of public safety, has several relatives in northeast Ohio who she misses, and seems to have offended some in state goverment with her straight-forward style. If O'Connor were to leave the administration; House Speaker Jo Ann Daividson, R-Reynoldsburg, who is term-limited, would be the odds-on favorite to replace her. (JACK KUSTRON/photoj.com)
