STATEWIDE PRESENCE--Paul Folmer, of the Ohio Coalition for Equity & Adequacy of School Funding, holds a state map that shows, in the dark areas, the number of school districts that are part of the Coalition. The Ohio Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Coalition, in DeRolph v. Ohio, that the state's formula for funding public education is unconstitutional, and has given the General Assembly until March 24, 1998 to provide a remedy.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?--William Phillis, Exec. Dir of the Ohio Coalition for Equity & Adequacy of School Funding, responds to a reporter's question concerning the cost of implementing a 16-point Checklist, offered by the Coalition, at the Ohio Statehouse, in Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997. Phillis refused to say what the cost for funding the state's public schools should be.
